Political Observation - Fallout of Trump's Decision and Scrutiny of his Speech

US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday 6 December 2017 America's recognition of al-Quds as the capital of "Israel". He also announced his decision to move the US embassy from "Tel Aviv" to Al-Quds. Donald Trump has therefore stirred up the dormant waters of the Palestinian issue and placed its file, which had been on the backburner throughout the "Arab Spring" years, on the table afresh. The first fallout of Trump's decision was the call by Hamas and other Palestinian groups for a new intifada in the occupied lands, in addition to the eruption of spontaneous and organised demonstrations in several Islamic and foreign countries.

The US President Donald Trump represents the volition of the state and does not conduct himself in foreign policy according to his own frame of mind, especially in respect of vital interests and strategic issues that impact America's worldwide standing, but rather according to a carefully calculated trend US policy. Hence, his decision is not merely pertinent to an electoral promise or any other domestic issues regardless of their significance. American policy is also not subject to the wishes of the Jews as some individuals may think; it is rather regulated by the interests of capitalists and multinationals, which although some of their owners are Jewish, their interests are however linked to those of the US. Even "Israel" itself is part of the US interests.

It transpired from Donald Trump's speech, during which he announced his decision and placed the issue back at the top of the agenda, that a fresh US plan or trend was put in motion: "My announcement today marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians... I've judged this course of action to be in the best interests of the United States of America and the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. This is a long-overdue step to advance the peace process and to work towards a lasting agreement."

The eruption of the intifada, demonstrations and protests in the region and several other countries represent the beginning of the pressure targeting the "Israeli" rightwing movement to compel it into accepting the forthcoming solution, especially now that Trump has fulfilled what the "Israeli" rightwing had always wanted, namely moving the US embassy to al-Quds, and reassuring the Jews of the Arab states' grovelling, headed by Saudi, to normalise their relations with them. The Jews were reassured further by America and the Kafir West's success in diverting the animosity of the masses in the region towards Iran and its affiliates, making them enemy number one instead of "Israel".

With the intifada, Hamas and other groups have called for intensifying the regional and international protests against the decision of the US administration to prevent it from gathering momentum; and if the US administration failed to take steps to reassure the Palestinians and regional and international public opinion, the view that the US administration is biased, insincere and unfit to be a sponsor or partner in the peace process will be corroborated. Hence, the US administration may have intentionally forsaken her former role to the United Nations which will propose the solution that America wants, thus exerting further international pressure on "Israel" and dissipating her hesitation in accepting the international solution.

As for the features of the American solution, Trump stated in his speech: "We want an agreement that is a great deal for the Israelis and a great deal for the Palestinians. We are not taking a position of any final status issues, including the specific boundaries of the Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem, or the resolution of contested borders. Those questions are up to the parties involved. The United States would support a two-state solution if agreed to by both sides." Hence, he has left the issue of "Israeli" sovereignty over al-Quds open to negotiations and subject to agreement which indicates the possibility of granting the Palestinians sovereignty over parts of al-Quds. This is corroborated by what US secretary of state Tillerson said yesterday in Paris, namely that Trump had not referred to any final status in respect of al-Quds. As for the disputed borders mentioned in Trump's statement, it is clearly in reference to the West Bank settlements and an agreement over them between the two sides is what would settle their status with the expected solution being a land exchange. Trump also clearly dodged the issue of the refugees whose early settlement had been on the cards by granting a small number of the refugees the right to return to the occupied territories and naturalising the majority of them in their countries of residence and offering them tempting compensation.

It is noteworthy to point out that Trump's talk of supporting the two-state solution - if the two sides agreed - does not indicate that the US administration is committed to turning a united city of al-Quds into a capital for the Jewish entity; it rather indicates the possibility of dividing al-Quds into two capitals, i.e. the possibility of being a capital for two states, one for the Palestinians and another for the Jews once an agreement on the boundaries of "Israel's" sovereignty over al-Quds is concluded, in addition to the clear indication of maintaining the status quo of the holy precincts. He said: "In the meantime, I call on all parties to maintain the status quo at Jerusalem's holy sites, including the Temple Mount, also known as Haram al-Sharif."

Finally, It is only fitting for our Ummah, mighty with her Aqeedah, glorious with her religion, generous with her sacrifices, revered for her bravery and courage in defying the wrongdoers unarmed to realise that the essence of the struggle over Palestine is doctrinal rather than nationalist or patriotic; that our commitment to Palestine stems from our Aqeedah over which only a traitor would compromise. It is also fitting for our Ummah to be absolutely certain that our religion has ordered us to liberate every single inch of Palestinian land which belongs to the Islamic Ummah and not just the people of Palestine.

Hence, the issue of Palestine is an issue of Jihad and existence rather than an issue of refugees and boundaries. The only way to liberate Palestine is Jihad which individuals and groups cannot fulfil since Jihad requires armies that smash the borders and uproot the coward Jews for whom history has never produced any heroes. This Jihad is rejected by the regimes that have betrayed Allah (swt) and the Ummah; the regimes of submission to Trump and to the doctrine of Kufr to the point where the Jews have turned into mighty heroes during their tenures although Allah (swt) has overshadowed them with disgrace, ignominy and humiliation. The lowliness and cowardice of the servants of Trump have reached the point where they, together with their surrogates, became firm and unyielding towards the Ummah, and clement and lowly towards the doctrine of Kufr and their tyrants. As long as the Ummah does not demand the mobilising of the armies to liberate Palestine, the land of Islam, it would not come as a surprise if the clique of Oslo, who turned themselves into custodians of that part of the land of Islam, were to do nothing but concede the rights of the Ummah in Palestine; indeed, it would not be surprising if they accepted a reality that would force them to engage in "negotiations" to merely turn the "Palestinian Authority" into a "Palestinian State" without achieving any significant change to the current situation including the issue of borders, the continued Jewish dominance over al-Quds and the holy sites, the Jewish settlements and the refugees.

Will the Ummah seize the initiative to tackle her own issues and refuse to be party to what her enemies and their surrogates impose upon her? This shall materialise once she resumes the conveying of the message of Islam which will unite her and restore her anew as a mighty Jihad-loving Ummah which sends shivers down the spines of the titans instead of being intimidated by the vermin and insects.
