Political Observation

The bringing down of the American flag, and the attack and the storming of some US embassies and consulates in some Arab and Islamic countries, especially in Cairo and Benghazi, have paved the way for the concentration of the American interests in the region, chiefly in Libya.

The “Ansar al-Shari’ah Brigade”, An Al-Qaeda-affiliated group operating in east Libya issued a statement denying its responsibility for the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi. To quote from the statement: “These accusations are part of a prearranged campaign aimed at vilifying this brigade and inciting others against it.” However, some US officials believed the Benghazi attack had been planned and not spontaneous; they pointed out to the presence of evidence indicating the possible involvement of elements of a group they described as radical, known as “Ansar al-Shari’ah”, in planning the attack.

Mike Rogers, the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, announced that the attack had “all the hallmarks of an al-Qaeda-style attack”. He told CNN “There are still some fuzzy details.”

The American president did not wait long before he announced that the US would dispatch a Marine anti-terrorism unit to bolster security in Libya. Obama also ordered two destroyers to the Libyan coast. A senior American military official said the move was a precautionary measure and did not mean military action was imminent. He indicated that the aim of this move was to give the Obama administration flexibility for any future action against Islamic extremists in Libya. The official told Reuters that USS Laboon in Crete could take its position within hours; whereas destroyer USS McFaul was two days away. Both destroyers are equipped with Tomahawk missiles which NATO used extensively against the air defences of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi last year.

Answers to Questions

1- It is important to study the issues according to their original plane when making a political link. This would be by identifying the root from which the events have originated and the track towards which they are proceeding. It would be wrong to pile up the events and the issues on the top of each other without the presence of a link between them, or for simply suspecting the presence of a link. In order to maintain the soundness of political perception, it is imperative to discard logic and not to resort to universal analogy and generalisation. Also, a political issue must not be stripped of its surrounding circumstances. For instance, the United States resorts to the policy of dual containment by employing Iran and Iraq to place pressure on Israel and the Gulf states. It is however imperative when studying these actions at their original plane, to differentiate between the political  actions that Iraq undertakes, with the aim of pressurising Israel, and the actions aimed at pressurising the Gulf states. It is true that to merely mention that Iraq possesses arms of mass destruction is liable to exert pressure on both sides. However, the accuracy in the opinion necessitates observing the political circumstances surrounding the Iraqi move towards applying pressure, so that the intended side is recognised and so that the progress of the political situation in the American plans is also perceived through the side targeted by the pressure. This is so because the pressure on the Gulf states reveals the obstacles impeding the American plan in dominating the Gulf, while the pressure on Israel reveals genuine obstacles impeding the progress of the peace process form the Israeli side, be it with regard to the Israel public opinion or the Israeli government.

First: The International situation

The United States of America is forging ahead towards strengthening her grip on the international issues in terms of overseeing these issues and conducting the various crisis. She endeavours to rapidly establish a host of fresh relations and conventions, through which she will be able to maintain her unilateral dominance of the international situation, and to prevent any other state or any other force from competing with her or rivalling her or even from aiming at budging her from the apex of the international situation.

Unilateral Dominance of the U.S. over the International Situation

Answer to a question

One of the most important fundamental basics of explaining the current political events in the wake of the unilateral dominance of the U.S. over the international situation is reflected in the fact that the U.S. endeavours to establish and promote the world peace through the regional situations, regimes and the international relations in a manner that would enable her to establish hegemony over the world. This is so because her unilateral dominance over the international situation denotes the management of international issues or crises and her leadership in settling disputes. As for the various regions, America relies on the established unions to help her resolve the situation in those particular regions for instance she established (group of Sahil and the Sahara countries) via her agent Ghaddafi and also the group of east African states via her agent Mubarak and the group of Asian and pacific ocean economic corporation .she also worked towards reviving the Arab Maghrib union for her own aims.

Changes that the U.S.A has endeavoured to introduce to the U.N

One of the fundamental objectives of the United States, of which she has already achieved a great deal while on her way towards completing the rest of her objectives ever since she effectively participated in establishing the United Nations Organisation, was to destroy the role of Europe in running international politics and controlling the international situation, and to turn Europe into being part of the world policy, i.e. the "world including Europe" as oppose to "Europe and her foreign environment".
