On the Reasons and the fallouts of North Korea’s decision to cancel the Armistice agreement

North Korea announced on 13 March 2013 that it had cancelled the 1953 armistice with South Korea which ended the Korean war of 1950. North Korea issued a warning to the US and its “puppet” in Seoul stipulating that the next step would be a “merciless” military response. A spokesperson for the North Korean Ministry of Armed Forces said in a statement, “They would be well advised to keep in mind that the armistice agreement is no longer valid and (North Korea) is not restrained by the North-South declaration on non-aggression.” The spokesperson added: "What is left to be done now is an action of justice and merciless retaliation of the army and people of North Korea.”

Answers to Questions on the Recent Events in Kyrgyzstan

The army in Kyrgyzstan have recently announced a state of emergency and imposed a curfew in the cities of Osh, Jalal-Abad and other parts of the country, on the grounds of continued disturbances and acts of violence that have killed and wounded hundreds among both the Kyrgyz majority and the Uzbek minority.

The head of the interim government, Rosa Otunbayeva, has accused supporters of former President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who was ousted last April, of fuelling ethnic violence in his stronghold city of Osh, in order to disrupt the national referendum on a new constitution scheduled for June 27 this month. Kyrgyzstan will not be anyone's colony."

What is remarkable is the squabble-free response of the Pakistani government to those guidelines, which could not be envisaged as useful to the apparent aim of what is referred to as the Afghan crisis. The US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates said upon the signing of the deal:

Answers to Questions

1- After striking Afghanistan, America will most likely support the solution that entails the establishment of a government that includes the Bashtun, Uzbek and Tajik, where the Taliban will be the effective rulers in the land, after adopting a political icon to rule the country nominally. King Zaher Shah may be the icon around which the Afghan people will unite; this will serve as a prelude towards integrating Afghanistan into the international community and recognising it regionally and internationally.

 Political Analysis

The Pakistani armed forces took control of the key governmental institutions and the public institutions on Tuesday 12 October 1999, and dismissed the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. This was only two hours after Nawaz Sharif had announced the dismissal of Chief of Staff, General Parvaiz Musharraf while he was on an official mission in Sri Lanka.  Incidentally, it was only a week before the coup d’état took place that Nawaz Sharif himself had extended General Musharraf’s term as Chief of Staff until 6 October 2001.
